It was a short, swift step from painting to sculpture. His research led to a series of three-dimensional “models” (made in cold worked methacrylate, shaped with heat) that accentuated the phenomenon of disruption and distortion of the “designed field”. These models would also influence his explorations from practical objects to ambient and urban-scale interventions.

In this exhibition for the first time, in a systematic and sufficiently comprehensive way, the works that are the testimony of the visual researches “Textural Structures” by Ugo La are exhibited. These researches, characterized by a strong significant component compared to the breakdown of the “programmed system” In the second half of the seventies, La Pietra will develop the theory of the “unbalancing system”, a theory that will use disturbing elements to highlight (decode) the social and environmental rigidities of the urban structure. A theory that still represents one of the most original contributions to conceptual art and radical architecture of the second half of the sixties.
